See You Outside.

From my studio in Whitstable, I design characterful gardens in London, Kent and across the South East of the UK.

Design outside.

My name is Mark Hardy and I believe good design can positively change the relationship we have with our gardens.

When we work together, I’ll take time to get to know you, your home and how you want to use your outside space. The result will be a garden that suits the way you live and feels completely at home in its surroundings.

For a better
everyday life outside.

A well-designed garden can make everyday life that little bit better. A place to enjoy your morning coffee, entertain friends or simply spend quality time outside. Getting the Design right makes all the difference, allowing the garden to become a natural extension of your home.

A garden for life,
not just for instagram.

From coastal gardens in Kent to urban roof terraces in London and country house gardens across the South East, I design outside spaces of all shapes and sizes. Each design responds to the architecture of the home, the character of its surroundings and the opportunities the site presents.

What my clients think:

  • A close-up of an Allium with an oval-shaped flower head that is green at the bottom and transitions to pink at the top, surrounded by other plants with purple flowers in the background.

"Our back garden was a real challenge and not somewhere we enjoyed spending any time. Mark completely reimagined the space, pushing us gently to trust his design process, and the results are incredible!”

    Vicky, Kent.

“I felt Mark loved the project & garden as much as I do and that sense of being ‘in it together’ was really wonderful.”

    Nick, Kent

“Working with Mark was a joyful experience. He listened to our hopes for the garden and translated these into a beautiful reality, beyond what we could ever have imagined."

    Jess, Kent.

"Mark went above and beyond to make our garden magical. We cannot recommend him enough!”

    Georgie, Kent.

  • Close-up of an ornamental onion flower with a rounded, elongated cluster of tiny purple and green buds on a tall green stem, with blurred purple and green flowers in the background.

"Mark's attention to detail was exceptional and he was very collaborative with our team throughout the build. The clients are very happy with the garden and we look forward to working with Mark again on future projects.”

“Mark designed a beautiful garden for us, creating the perfect place to entertain friends and relax. From paving, to lighting and planting, every detail has been so thoughtfully considered. His creativity, support and eye for detail is amazing and we’re so grateful to him for making our garden everything we’d hoped for.”
